Congratulations to CDT student Daniel Yanes on his recent publication in the special edition (quality by digital design) of International Journal of Pharmaceutics: X . The publication is based on research done during Daniel's 10 week industrial placement as part of the CDT training program. It is also worth noting that two of the authors Georgios Papakostas and Sadie Swainson are alumni of a previous CDT.

Daniel has provided the following overview of the paper:
"Good flow is essential for pharmaceutical manufacturing, but measuring flow can be time-consuming and requires large amounts of material. In this research, we developed and compared several predictive models to estimate flow behaviour in powder blends. While complex models offered higher accuracy, they also demanded more data and material. Our pragmatic mixing model, however, provides a good balance of reasonable accuracy whilst using less material. This model can be used to accelerate early formulation design and development for oral solid dosage products."
